Start with an experiment group. Add a tile number that matches your physical tile, choose a clay body, and add glazes in the order you apply them. Use a variable label such as “two coats” to distinguish tests. Group defaults are copied only when creating a new tile; changing them does not rewrite older records.

Duplicate a tile to plan another experiment. Copies retain materials and layer order but clear photos, actual firing date and results. After firing, edit the tile, add After photos and notes, then select two tiles in the group to compare. Unknown values are not treated as measured differences. This journal is not firing or food-safety advice.

Your first 12 current tiles are free. Archived tiles count; deleted tiles do not. You may restore old records even above the limit, and still read, edit, compare and export them. Pro removes the count limit through a one-time Apple purchase. Use Settings → Restore purchases with the Apple Account that purchased Pro. Pending approval does not unlock Pro. If the store is unavailable, local journal functions remain available.

Back up with Settings → Save complete backup. Save the .feiglaze package intact; do not rename or alter files inside it. Restore from backup replaces this device’s journal after validation and confirmation. Undo last library restore returns to the preceding library; edits made since restore are in the alternate copy and are not merged. Photos and records are backed up, but unfinished drafts and purchase entitlements are not. A saved package can be up to 200 MiB and contain up to 5,000 tiles for import. If your journal exceeds this limit, contact support before moving devices and keep the originals and exports; the first version does not split/merge large libraries automatically.

CSV exports two UTF-8 tables joined by tileID. Leading spreadsheet formula characters are prefixed with an apostrophe, and quotes/newlines are escaped. CSV does not include image files and cannot restore the entire app.

Deleted tiles can be restored from Settings → Recently Deleted for 30 days. Recovery copies can retain older data temporarily. If the library cannot be read, the app preserves it and offers previous-library recovery or backup restore; it does not silently create an empty replacement. A failed save leaves the editor open. Check free device storage and retry before discarding a draft.

Photos are resized to 2,048 pixels and stripped of location metadata. Keep originals in Photos. Camera permission is only requested on tap; when unavailable, use Choose photo. Sample artwork is illustrative and isolated from your journal. Return to your journal to export or restore data.
